We, Moonjung and I want to thank you personally for the many years of support that has allowed us to pioneer and empower ministry in Cambodia through The Crossroads.  We appreciate the organizational support of the Christian Nationals’ Evangelism Commission (CNEC) throughout these years as well.  As a part of CNEC’s plan to transition The Crossroads ministry to local leadership, we would like to inform you that David has step aside from his role. Therefore, we want to inform you that as of October 2011, he is no longer a part of CNEC.

We also want to thank you for faithfully supporting us in prayer and meeting the financial needs of ministry and our living expenses for the past 11 years. There were milestones that you had even come into our lives to support us emotionally when the storms came in. Further, through your financial contribution on the ministry front, many students have been given beyond an extraordinary roof. They found the best thing in life – Jesus Christ, and have been raised as leaders through ministry development.

Therefore, we are in an ’uncertain path,’ but praying for God’s leading.  I hope you will continue to pray for us and support us as He is leading us. At present and for 2012, we are taking our sabbatical year at Seattle and allowing our family to recharge.  At the same time, as a part of sabbatical arrangement we serve as missionary-in-residence at Evangelical Chinese Church of Seattle, Washington, USA. This church members composed of multigenerational multilingual congregations have been very kind in providing us a shelter for this year, and as agreed mutually, we are committed to help out in ways to grow the church. Your support has allowed David to continue his ministry here at Seattle while the sabbatical arrangement provides living quarter.

What’s next? While our hearts, honestly, is still in Cambodia at this moment and we still desire to return to continue the unfinished task the Lord has envisioned us. Over the last 11 years, 6 churches were planted though only 4 still ‘alive’(Xroads PP, Xroads Battambang, Pillars, Cana) and also churches at unreached people group – Kuy ministry(5 villages), enterprise ministry to name a few.  However, we are willing to submit to God’s calling.  Please pray with us and for us in this journey. It will be some time before we will know about our future undertaking.

We know that without your consistent prayers and support in partnering us, we will not be able to serve for Christ in reaching out to students in Cambodia.  I believe through your support in faith and partnership in Christ even greater things are awaiting us.  We will appreciate your continuous prayer and support at this critical time. May the Lord direct our path to the future that will be honorable and glorious to Him.  Please let us know if you need additional information.

A seed, on the face of it, can be seen as similar to a stone. Yet, the huge difference is that the seed has life. Therefore, every seed will grow if it is still alive. We thank God that Xroads Church has life and that the life is alive and is growing. We thank God for His vision, the leadership and its commitment in nurturing the church to grow in Christ.

Further, the church is also called to come alongside God in the Great Commission. There is a sense of co-laboring with Christ in that if they are to abide in Christ and Christ in them, they will bear much fruit. At Xroads, the church continues to be pruned, and sometimes certain branches is cut off, for the sake of growth thus bear much fruit. Pls pray that Xroads will continue to grow in His Spirit as this is His desire and divine method of leading the church. Pls pray that His work will complete that people will truly believe in Him whom He has sent(Jn. 6:28-29).

Pls pray for Rathana, the young Timothy. To a pastor, the challenge of the church is ever increasing and demanding. The Pillars has recently moved into a new premise with a larger capacity for growth. This is certainly the will of God. While Rathana has set his heart to nurture His little flock, the church as a whole has been bombarded with problems from all angles. In wisdom, the church went on their knees thus putting their trust in the Lord. May His grace and mercy prevail. We also pray that God and men’s favor will be upon Rathana.

  Ip is Uncle Hun’s daughter from Snaur      Village, our first Kuy village. Ip continues to encounter God consistently. Our co-workers would testify that her faith in Christ has grown stronger and stronger.Recently, Ip had a chance to visit her home. Her heart was broken when she saw so many people(youth and adults) in her village getting drunk. Thus a burden for her people welled up inside her. She desires to learn reading so that she will be able to read the Bible and be empowered to preach the gospel. Living with Chenda (one of our female co-workers at the pepper plantation), she and the other 4 Kuy ladies are learning to read. We thank God that He has envisioned Kuy people and we trust that truly, Heaven Is Invading Kuy Villages.

The subject of church planting continues to be a challenge. 2 years ago, missionary participants from various church planting organizations admitted that they don’t know how in the midst of present generation and generation to come.  At the Church Planting Seminar in Cambodia, all strategies and methods/tools were shared and discussed, yet to no avail. Indeed, there is no precedent other than by His words and revelation. We need to pray for courage to move forward with ‘unprecedented methods’ in the midst of the unprecedented challenge of church planting. Pls pray for His wisdom and abundance in His grace and mercy for leadership. We can definitely move forward by His Spirit.

We ask for prayer for church planting at the pepper plantation. Please pray for Karano, Phektra, Chenda, Putra and Mesa as they lead to harvest the people the Lord has placed at the plantation. Pls also pray for the Kuy people at the plantation and the churches at the Kuy villages. These young laborers in the Lord will need His protection and deliverance in ministry.

You Are Good – Last week, I was called to preach on Genesis 12, a very familiar passage that has been deeply rooted in me for so many years. At the worship, we sang – You Are Good. The Lord then caused me to put aside my intended content of the sermon and though with the same title (Life of Faith), the message turned out to be a ‘Comforting’ flavor. I felt strange yet many came forward to be thankful of His presence and comfort to them.

Amongst them is a couple whose wife is going through surgery right now as I write this letter. Sister Veronique has been diagnosed with cancer and will be operated on her front and back (for reconstruction purpose). Incidentally, another young couple who are very dear to us, they are carrying a baby diagnosed with Trisomy 18 (basically, baby Emmanuel will not survive, says the doctor). Wow, if not the Lord took over the message on Life of Faith, such preaching would be impossible. How would Veronique, and our dear friends and baby Emmanuel, see goodness in God is beyond my comprehension. King David, when pursued by his rebelled son Absalom, wrote “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…” Ps. 23:6.  O Lord, grant us the strength and faith to sing “You Are Good”

Uncle Hun and Uncle Lim continues to visit Crossroads so that they’d be discipled and equipped with the word of God every other week. During the worship, they were asked if they were fearful or struggled whenever festive occasions were around. They testified on the reality of such struggles yet they praised the Lord that they have been liberated from the power of darkness and from the foolishness of human traditions that had been a bondage to them in the past. They asked for prayer too that all Kuy people will be liberated from such bondage thus to experience the grace of God.

Please pray for Kuy ministry. Many who have heard and have been responsive to the gospel are easily susceptible to threats socially and physically, thus being persecuted. Unfortunately, many have turned away from the love of God out of fear. Such is the reality of gospel in the context of poverty and the marginalized people.

Please pray for wisdom and strength that God will be gracious and merciful to Kuy people and that His supernatural work will be evident to them in order that they may believe. May the Lord also sustain and increase faith on those who have already believed.

We also ask for prayer as David and Moonjung are in dialogue with CNEC on how to develop Cambodia ministry in the future. In the last 11 years, the Lord has evidently done so much at and through Xroads ministry and as a result His blessings have been poured out to many Cambodian and even to foreign churches which either have partnered, visited or have been associated with the Xroads. There is certainly much unfinished work yet to be done for His glory. We will appreciate prayer that the Lord will guide the conversation and discussion that we will all come to His table with humility and openness to abide in Him.

The Crossroads church was informed that the workers at the plantation have been sick. Instantaneously, a medical team was formed, and with prayer the church sent out the ‘doctors’. Many from the plantation and surrounding areas came by to witness the Grace of God. How true it is that it only takes a spark to get a fire going … and soon all those around can warm up in its glowing. That’s how it is with God’s love once you have experienced it. Praise the Lord.

We also praise the Lord for Cana Church. The girls have been faithfully going out to bring encouragement and comfort to Daughters. This reach out has been beyond them from the beginning, yet they pressed on knowing that the Lord in the Lord shall not be in vain. We pray for Rithy, for his leadership and the church that the holiness and righteousness of the Lord will prevail in all trials and temptations. May the Lord also be gracious that they will be protected from the evil ones.

One of the greatest challenges of young people or post modernization ministry is the impartation of Word. How can we help them to hide His word in them that they will not sin against Him? These people don’t carry their own bible or the bible is seldom visible to them. We are very thankful to an organization who donated 100 bibles for Xroads ministry. In the past 12 years, the ministry still teaches the bible daily to students in order to empower them with His Word. We trust that such emphasis will not be empty, but instead, will accomplish the Lord’s will and His purpose for us. Praise the Lord.

We pray for the church at Snaur. Much effort has been poured into developing the church to mature in Christ. Karano and his team will spend time to empower the leaders with His word weekly. Crossroads church also supports the leaders financially so that they can travel to Phnom Penh to have fellowship with the church regularly in order to envision them with a disciple-making church amongst Kuy people. Please also remember churches in Sukrun and Tumieng Tum at Preah Vihear too.

Since Karanin, the eldest brother who was the 1st in the family to come Christ, God continues to build up His story amongst Karanin’s family. Karanin to Karano to Seakna to Sitha to their mother to Sithiang to Mesa and now to Lada.
